Assured tenants of Two Castles Housing Association have certain legal rights, as outlined below.

Right to Consultation
Residents have the right to consultation on any changes affecting their tenancy.

Right to Mutual Exchange
Residents have the right to swap their home with another willing party who is also an assured or secure tenant.

Right to Make Improvements
Residents may make improvements as long as they do not de-value their property. Residents must seek permission from their landlord first.

Right to Take In Lodgers
Residents can take in lodgers with permission, but it must not cause overcrowding. They should consult their local office as this may also affect any housing benefit entitlements.

Right to Compensation
Residents have a right to compensation for certain improvements made to the property after 1 April, 1994.

Right to Access Personal Information
Residents are entitled to view personal information that Two Castles Housing Association holds about them on file or computer (a fee may be charged for this service).

Right to Succeed
On the death of the tenant (where the tenancy is held by one person) this tenancy will pass to the tenant’s spouse under the provisions of the Housing Act 1988, provided that he or she occupies the premises as their only or principal home at the time of the tenant’s death.
