Equality & Diversity

We understand how valuing our diversity policy can improve our ability to deliver better services. Two Castles Housing Association aims to:

  • Achieve equality and diversity in all our activities
  • Have a workforce that generally reflects the population of our working areas
  • Actively consult with all our customers
  • Actively consult with different individuals and communities to ensure that our services reflect the diversity of need and are responsive

We recognise that housing association households contain higher than average proportions of people who experience discrimination and other social disadvantages. Groups of people who commonly suffer in this way include:

  • People from black and minority ethnic (BME) communities
  • People with disabilities
  • Older people
  • People from different sexualities
  • People with learning difficulties
  • People with mental health issues
  • People suffering from alcohol or substance abuse
  • Those experiencing domestic violence
  • Those with religious differences
  • People living in poverty

In addition to fulfilling our legal responsibility to promote equality of opportunity in all our activities, we are committed to developing an organisational culture which values people from all sections of the community and the contribution each individual can make to our work.

We also have an Equality & Diversity strategy which outlines how we will achieve these aims.
